Police search for murder suspect

Bellingham police detectives are still searching for Derek Collier, a suspect in the murder of motorist David Datskiy on May 11.

Police reported that Datskiy was driving in the 1500 block of James Street in Bellingham and pulled his car over to allow Collier to pass when Collier stabbed him with a knife. He then fled the scene in a pearl white 1998 Cadillac De Ville 4 door Washington license # 477XIS.

Detectives believe Collier is still in the Ferndale area or north Bellingham area. He is described as a white 23 year old male with blonde hair and a shaved head. He has brown eyes, is 160 pounds and 5’10’’ in height. He has a multitude of tattoos including Casper the Ghost on his chest and back; praying hands and a girl in a red heart on his chest and a spider web tattoo on his left elbow.

Anyone with information should call Detective Hutchings at 360/778-8827 or 9-1-1.
