Council postpones decision on airport sale
By Tara Nelson
Blaine City Council will postpone a decision regarding the sale of the Blaine airport following a meeting in which two council members were absent.
In their regular meeting Monday, Blaine City Council discussed the matter in a closed session and later agreed to postpone the decision until a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 2 because Scott Dodd and Jason Overstreet were excused.
Council members John Liebert, Harry Robinson, Paul Greenough, Charlie Hawkins and mayor Bonnie Onyon were present.
“I think it’s important to have a full council for such an important decision and I think the public would feel the same way, too,” Onyon said.
In a meeting earlier this month, Dodd had criticized the council for making a decision on an issue that was placed on the agenda late in the process, requesting that in the future, votes on important issues be postponed or allow excused council members to vote by proxy.
Their next regular meeting is June 9.
