Blaine parks committee seeks public input

By Pat Grubb

The Blaine parks board is seeking public input at a May 19 meeting at Blaine library. The board is hoping to hear from residents on what they would like to see by way of improvements to their community parks.
The board is planning to update four parks in the first phase of a city-wide project.

The parks are Kilmer, Salishan, Montfort and Brickyard. The process has already begun for the Salishan and Kilmer park communities and the board wants to move ahead on those as well as start the process for the remainder of the parks, according to parks board member Tiiu Kuuskmann. She told The Northern Light on Monday the board “would like to re-address Montfort and Salishan and actually follow-through on residents’ previous suggestions.”

Kuuskmann said the board was hoping people from each community would attend and take an active role in the improvements.

She added that neighborhoods have the option of petitioning for a new park of their own.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
