November seems to be sliding in quite nicely for our Blaine Senior Center. We do so enjoy the autumn days and the changing of the seasons especially as we have our Blaine Senior Center. It is a welcoming place with interesting activities, friendship, and oh, so fabulous food.
The cancer support group with Toni, continues to meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. There is the easy line dance for newcomers at 9:30 Monday mornings, followed by the easy line dance class at 10.
Stretch exercises at 9:30 a.m., computer class at 10, Bible study group with JoAn is at 10:30, a sing-along with Trudy is at 12:30, which is right after lunch. The painting class with Maxine, is at 1 p.m. There are games, such as Scrabble, bridge, and pool.
Sign up for the 15-minute confidential memory testing just to put your mind at ease. Your memory may be better than you think. It will be on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 9 to 11 am. Emergency alert cards presentation is during lunch.
China painting, a creative writing class, and of course, games. How about a game of pinochle, or darts? Want to take an easy walk with friends? Everyone is invited to join the walking group Wednesdays or Thursdays after lunch.
Writing class meets at 10. Bring your stories, memories, poems, or ideas with you, we would enjoy listening to them. KayDee Powell is great at bringing out creativity and helping people share experiences.
More games and stretch exercise, and the computer class. The friendly firemen plan to come to give their blood pressure checks. The bridge and theater group meets at 1. Toni has some new skits to work on. You might like to come and join Sheila and Toni in finding, creating, and putting on skits. The evening hours of Thursdays are from 6 to 9 and provide more game time such as pinochle.
We are looking forward to the delicious Thanksgiving Dinner so generously supplied by the American League every year. The WTA Bus riding class will be on Thursday, Nov. 8. We will leave Blaine at 8:40 am and return about 4 in the afternoon. Free bus passes are available. Friday has pool and Bible class with Mary Lou.
Our hand-made craft show will be Saturday, Nov. 1, starting at 9 in the morning. There will be displays of hand-made crafts from numerous vendors, including our talented crafters and artists. This is a great time for holiday shopping. Lunch and snacks available.
Looking forward to December, we are planning a bus ride class to the mall, downtown, or Fairhaven, for a day of holiday shopping.
The center will be closed Veterans Day. There will be no pancake breakfasts during November, the center will be closed, for maintenance.
Have a very happy November, and a thankful, wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving!
