Event to benefit Kyle Quist

By Tara Nelson

Friends and family of an 18-year-old Blaine resident who was injured in a single-car accident last month have scheduled an all-ages benefit concert at the Dakota Creek Center for 7 p.m. this Saturday to raise money for his medical expenses.

The event is organized by Boss About It Entertainment/ Felanated Muziic, a Whatcom County record company run by Jason Berry aka JB Viciouz. Scheduled opening acts include Bellingham artists Loc Saint and B.N.G. Other guest performances include local artists T-Christ, S.T.S, Mr. X, Miz Nina, R.O.B. and a solo performance of Carrie Underwood’s Jesus Take the Wheel sung by Blaine elementary student Lyric Berry.

Quist, 18, was found unconscious and trapped inside his 1984 Lincoln Town Car in a ditch in the 3500 block of Bay Road in Custer on October 21. According to the State Patrol, rescuers had to cut away the car to free him before he was transported to St. Joseph Hospital for initial treatment. He was later transferred to the Seattle trauma center for further care.

Family members said he remains in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle this week with head trauma, facial fractures, a broken pelvis and five broken lumbars.

The Dakota Creek Center is located at 8732 Blaine Road. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Friends of Kyle have also created an account at the Blaine branch of Bank of America under his name. Donations can be made at any Whatcom County branch.

Kyle was a part-time employee of Shore’s restaurant in Birch Bay. He does not have health insurance.
