Candidate filing week begins this Monday

Candidate filing for several Whatcom County and city of Blaine offices begins at 8:30 a.m., Monday June 4 and closes at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 8.

Positions open for election include: Whatcom County Port of Bellingham commissioner, district 3; Whatcom County Council district 3, position B; Whatcom County Sheriff, Whatcom County executive; Blaine City Council wards 1, 2, and 3; Blaine school district director, districts 1, 2 and 4; and Birch Bay Water and Sewer district commissioner, position 3.

Filings received after 4:30 p.m. on Friday are invalid and will be returned to the applicant irrespective of the postmark.

Declarations of candidacy forms are available at the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office at 311 Grand Avenue in Bellingham. For more information, call the Whatcom County elections division at 360/676-6742.
