Taking a bite out of Blaine

Chicken mole, buttery crab legs, potato pancakes, and pita triangles topped with spicy garlic hummus and Morroccan chicken were just a few of the delectable “bites” offered at the seventh annual Bite of Blaine last Monday.

More than 240 people showed up to sample dishes from 19 different area restaurants and food stores including Shores restaurant’s popular bread pudding, hand-made meatballs from Bella Marina and French pastries from Seaside Bakery Cafe.

The event was sponsored by the Blaine Chamber of Commerce and held in the Semiahmoo Resort ballroom.

Proceeds from the event help fund Blaine’s annual Fourth of July fireworks program, one Christianson described as the best in the county. Christy Lonquist’s Northern Meadows specialty gift and wine shop was awarded the chamber’s annual trophy as Blaine’s business of the year. Runners up for the award were Paso del Norte, the O’Neill Group, Blaine Insurance and Blaine Marina.

We only wish we could get Big Al to make his special baked potato salad on a more regular basis.
