Blaine School District
It has been an exciting and
eventful year for the Blaine school district.
Our students continue to demonstrate a high level of academic
achievement, performing at or above statewide averages
on the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL).
In addition, our students excel in music and athletics,
consistently receiving recognition for their accomplishments
on a local, regional and statewide level.
The Blaine school district has annually been acknowledged
for having one of the most comprehensive advanced placement
program in the state of Washington, providing students
at the secondary level with options to accelerate the
acquisition of academic skills in preparation for post
secondary school opportunities. We are indeed committed
to assuring for the development of life long learners.
While enrollment for the 2006-07 school year has remained
relatively steady, the Blaine school district continues
to plan for steady enrollment growth at all levels.
During the 2007 calendar year, the board of directors
will review alternatives for elementary school site acquisition
in the Birch Bay area and also arrive at a recommendation
for facility expansion at Blaine high school.
At this time, the board of directors is considering running
a capital projects bond, in concert with the maintenance
and operations levy in early 2008.
The Blaine school district is privileged to have a highly
experienced and dedicated staff across the K-12 program.
As the calendar year comes to a close, the new superintendent
is being joined by two new board members, all of whom
are dedicated to supporting the tradition of excellence.
The communities of Blaine, Birch Bay and Point Roberts
remain an integral part of the success of the Blaine
school district.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents
and patrons for their continued support. We look forward
to joining with you to continue the vital work of educating
all students in 2007!
