Young at Heart

Keep on enjoying those pleasant western Washington summer days of August. Hopefully all seniors are set for a big senior day at Hovander Park on August 9. There will be plenty of food, prizes and wonderful entertainment.

A farm tour is being planned for Friday, August 18, 1 p.m. The center’s van will provide transportation to several local farms and produce stands will be visited. There might be a chance of a little U-picking as well.
A walking tour at the pleasant Fragrance Garden at Hovander Park is scheduled for Friday, August 15, at 1:30.

The Blaine Senior Center has a very impressive strength training program which is very beneficial to our seniors. Regular and supervised exercise has helped lower many blood pressures and renewed energy for our seniors.

The center continues to have many activities, such as darts and pool. Stretch exercise classes are Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30 and bocce ball at 10:30.

Wednesday has a green thumb gardening group, and a walking group in the neighborhood in the afternoons, followed with a refreshing tea or coffee time and yoga at 6 p.m.

Thursday mornings have a blood pressure check by the fire department and the afternoons have a fun-for-all sing-along group.
