Old Settlers seek talent for picnic

The Whatcom County Old Settler’s Association is looking for amateur talent to perform during the 11th annual Pioneer Picnic at Pioneer Park in Ferndale.

Auditions are scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, June 12 at the Ferndale high school auditorium.

The annual event is scheduled for the weekend of July 27 through 30 at the park.

This year’s theme, “Picnics of the Past,” will commemorate the first Old Settler picnics in Birch Bay and will include horse-drawn wagon rides, tours of a log house museum, arts and crafts, a softball tournament, live entertainment, food vendors, a beer garden and a parade.

Birch Bay’s Vogt family will act as Grand Marshals for the parade.
The organization’s first “Battle of the Bands” is also scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, July 28 at the park.

For more information about the event or to reserve an audition space, call Nancy Reilly, the parade and entertainment chairperson, at 371-2032 or contact Goodie at gudlaug@comcast.net.
