Get ready for a fun-filled evening!
The ninth annual Arts & Jazz benefit auction is scheduled for February 11, 2006, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Blaine high school cafeteria.
The
theme, “A Centennial School
Celebration,” honors
Blaine high school’s 100th anniversary and will help
raise money for Blaine art, drama, choir and band students
in grades seven through 12.
Some of the supported projects include the Blaine choir’s
trip to the Whistler Choral Festival in May and the band’s
invitation to the Portland Rose Festival in June.
Other
projects that will be supported by profits from the
event include:
• Blaine high school band’s attendace at the
2006 Lionell Hampton Jazz Festival at the University of
Idaho Campus in Moscow, Idaho this February.
• The Blaine High School Wind Ensemble’s return
to Japan for the Funibashi Music Festival in 2007.
• Blaine art teacher Brian Smith’s student trip
to the Picasso exhibit at Vancouver Art Museum.
• Blaine high school choir director Andy Harmening’s
student trip to The Whistler Choral Festival this May and
their performance of the Star Spangled Banner at a Sonics
game last December.
The Blaine Fine Arts Association (BFAA), the organization
that is sponsoring the event, is also soliciting donations
of goods and services to be auctioned at the event. The
deadline is Friday, February 3.
The BFAA this year has gained its own non-profit 501
(c) (3) status so items donated to the auction may be
deducted.
Admission to the auction and dance is $5. Beverages and
hors d’oeurves will be served. For more information,
contact Dorita Gray at 380-1634.
