Drive safe!

The Blaine police department will deploy extra traffic patrols throughout the holidays this year as part of a statewide effort of law enforcement agencies to look for drivers who are impaired.

The extra patrols will last until January 2, said Julie Furlong of the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission.

Other law enforcement agencies in Washington state and Whatcom County are also participating in the increased enforcement including Ferndale, Bellingham, Sumas and Lynden police departments, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Department, Western Washington University Police, Lummi Nation law enforcement and the Fish and Wildlife Department.
