Puttin’ on the ritz...

“This is the only event that actually honors the people who brought us the Peace Arch,” said Christina Alexander, inviting Blaine city council members to the September 10 International Peace Arch Dedication Days, a celebration and reenactment of the 1921 dedication of the Blaine monument. Alexander encouraged everyone to come to the event in 1920s garb, handing out tips for putting together a costume from what is already hanging in the closet. The event starts at 1 p.m. and Alexander said they will serve punch and cake following the reenactment, featuring Peace Arch founder Sam Hill, accompanied by the Queen of Romania. To lead up to the event, Sam Hill will be visiting Blaine’s downtown September 9 and handing out awards for the business that sports the best in period dress.
