New scooter law planned
If you were thinking about buying your kid one of those motorized scooters this holiday season, you may want to think again.
A draft scooter ordinance introduced at Monday’s Blaine city council’s meeting by police chief Mike Haslip would prohibit operation by anyone under the age of 15. The ordinance is expected to be adopted in December.
Other rules affecting the operation of the motorized scooters include the prohibition of the vehicles on Peace Portal Drive, the truck route and H Street east of the truck route and mandating that they ridden on roadways only.
