Have walk, see herons
Ann Eissinger of Nahkeeta Northwest Wildlife Services will be leading a walking tour of the Birch Bay Heron Colony on Jackson Road beginning this afternoon, Thursday, November 4, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. “We’ll meet at the Birch Bay Bible Community Church and then walk a short distance to the colony to see first hand the importance of the site and its needed protection,” Eissinger said. She added that the group will discuss options for protection of the habitat.
“The urgency to protect
the heron colony and associated buffer from further disturbance
and possible development is now extreme,” she said.
The church is located at 7039 Jackson Road just north
of the intersection with Grandview Road.
Eissinger, who many know from her frequent wild life talks at Birch Bay State Park, has asked that people contact her so she knows how many to expect: 360/766-6008 or by e-mail at nahkeeta@fidalgo.net.
