Former mayor John Hobberlin undergoes heart bypass surgery
Former Blaine mayor John Hobberlin, 74, underwent triple bypass surgery after suffering from a heart attack early on the morning of Friday, September 17. He remains in St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham and is expected to fully recover.
Hobberlin was hospitalized after suffering chest pains; the procedure was performed to improve the blood flow to his heart. Prior to being hospitalized, Hobberlin has been described as being in good health by his doctors.
“John is
doing well and is in excellent hands at St. Joe’s,” campaign
manager Matt Cole announced September 21. According to
his wife Nancy, the surgery went smoothly and without
complication.
Hobberlin is the lead candidate in the Republican primary
for state representative, district 42, position 2 in
the race against former Blaine councilmember David White.
Hobberlin received nearly 60 percent of the votes in the primary held Tuesday, September 14. At present, no decision has been made about his campaign.
