Oyster festival a big hit

Organizers estimate several hundred people visited the June 19 Drayton Harbor Shellfish Protection District open house last weekend, eating 90 dozen oysters, 60 dozen fresh out of the Drayton Harbor community oyster farm and 30 dozen smaller ones donated by Blau Oyster Farm.
Visitors also got to learn about the work of dozens of organizations chipping away at the convoluted problem of how fecal coliform pollution ends up in Drayton Harbor, and how to stop it from getting there.
