VFW, LA announce student competitions

The Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary have announced this year�s competitions for school age children in grades three through 12. These competitions are open to all public, private, parochial and home school students.

Students in grades nine through 12 can voice their opinion on America and their commitment to the future in a Voice of Democracy audio essay due November 1. Grades three through eight can write an essay outlining �My Dream for America� due November 1. Grades nine through 12 can participate in the young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest to use their artistic talents to express their patriotism, due March 29, 2004. The Outstanding Young Volunteer of the Year award is open to all students between the ages of 12 and 15 who have provided volunteer service to their communities during 2003. Entries for both are due at a local post by February 2, 2004.
