Salmonar starting March 13

Anglers interested in a saltwater fishing class need to look no further then the �Salmonar,� starting March 13 in Bellingham at Shuksan middle school on Northwest Avenue.

Jim Jorgensen, salmon charter boat skipper for the last 36 years at Blaine, will share ideas and techniques for catching chinook, coho, pink, sockeye and chum salmon. The class is six weeks long, each Thursday evening from 7 � 9 p.m. The dates are March 13, 20, 27, April 3, 17 and 24.

The classes include sessions on bait cutting, downriggers, trolling, mooching, lure fishing, electronics, location of fishing areas on chart #18421, knot tying and much more. One session is about bottomfishing, including halibut.
