2002
IN REVIEW
Blaine Chamber of Commerce
2002 was a very successful year for the Blaine Community
Chamber of Commerce. In February we held the second annual
Bite of Blaine which offered delicious foods from our local
restaurants. Attendance was outstanding, selling over 250
tickets for the event. Planning has begun for 2003.
The chamber also had its first ever old fashioned 4th of
July celebration. This years festival was complete
with live music, street fair, parade and ended with a spectacular
fireworks display over Drayton Harbor. The celebration was
a great success and the chamber is planning on making next
years festival even bigger.
The chamber also held two fundraising events in 2002. In
April we held the April Fools golf classic, organized
by Ed Magner. In June there was the Skywater tennis tournament.
A special thank you to Joyce Vanderpol who has organized
this event for many years now.
Finally to end the year on a bright note we had the annual
Christmas bazaar and downtown tree lighting. As always it
was quite a crowd pleaser seeing Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive
in Blaine on a fire truck.
The Blaine Chamber of Commerce continues to grow and work
hand in hand with the city to make Blaine a place where
people want to do business.
