Pick a name and lunch is on her
Judy
Hanson wants a new name for her Birch Bay cafe and is willing
to pay for it. The new owner of Kims Coffee Cafe in
the Worldmark building on Birch Bay Drive will give a ten
dollar gift certificate to the creative customer who comes
up with a new name.
We wanted to get our customers involved, said
Hansons daughter Cynthia White, who also mans the
counter at the popular lunch spot. Customer involvement
is a theme at the cafe, where you can get 25 cents off your
lunch order if you can answer the days trivia question.
Since Hanson took over the cafe in February shes kept
what worked and added some touches of her own, such as a
section for gifts, postcards and books. Weve
added on but havent really changed the cafe,
she said.
New menu additions focus on lunch counter standards that
were absent before tuna and egg salad for example.
She also expanded salad offerings.
Hanson said she is focusing on consistent hours both winter
and summer. Winter hours are 7 a.m. 4 p.m., Thursday
through Saturday and 7 a.m. 2 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
Hours expand in the summer.
The contest to rename the cafe ends October 12, and entries
can be dropped off at the cafe until then. .
