Fundraiser dance on the dock
Its going to be high times on the Blaine waterfront
August 3. The Blaine Boys and Girls Club is putting on the
fifth annual Dance on the Dockside. The dance is the Blaine
units signature fundraising event, according to unit
director Randy Kirk. The goal is to get people out supporting
the club in a fun way, he said.
The dance will be played by locals Crystal Tricycle. The
evening also includes dinner, and live and silent auctions.
Kirk said the board has been searching for auction items
since February, and has come up with everything from basketballs
signed by the Borderites 2002 teams to local dining packages
to ski packages, sports weekends, and a week in Maui. Were
trying to build on last years success, Kirk said.
He expects to exceed last years attendance of a little
under 200.
Tickets for the dance, which will be held on the patio behind
the Blaine Boating Center, are $25 for a couple, $15 for
singles, and are available at the club. Dinner is at 6 pm,
the live auction will commence at 7 p.m., and Crystal Tricycle
will take the stage at 8 p.m.. Only club supporters over
21 will be admitted. While Boys and Girls Club members aren't
old enough to come support their club, they're hard at work
on decorations.
