Library boosters annual meeting
Friends of the Blaine Library will be hosting their annual
meeting on Wednesday, June 19, at 7p.m. at the Blaine Library.
Last year, Friends of Blaine Library was busy doing all
sorts of things to encourage reading and keep the Blaine
Library at its best.
Friends supported graduating Blaine Students April Oswald
and Duane Van Beek with a $500 scholarship awarded for the
purchase of college books. This year, two more scholarships
will be awarded to Julianne Gibson and Lisa Henley.
On-going book sales continue to succeed and the summer reading
program reached a record high. Children and teens read a
total of 4,480 books this summer. Friends provided over
$400 worth of prizes and awards.
Friends also donated a computer and printer to the Blaine
Library to solve insurance problems and streamline program
updates and maintenance for all county library branches.
This past January, Friends members, Ted and Elisabeth Angell
repainted the library entry and new bulletin boards and
the group purchased brochure holders.
Friends also continues to fund all the childrens magazines
in the library.
Board members of the Friends meet on the 3rd Wednesday of
every month, at 7p.m. and anyone is welcome.
