The Close-Up trip to Washington D.C. may have been cancelled
because of security concerns, but the Close-Up talent show
is still on, and looking for performers.
What Id love to see is if people could come
in and do unusual stuff, said high school teacher
and program organizer David Fakkema, jugglers, hypnotists,
things like that.
The show is on May 4. Fakkema said a technical rehearsal
would be held next week. Many local talents have already
signed up, primarily musicians and vocalists. Well
also have lots of little kids singing and dancing,
he said.
The show raises funds to help send high school juniors to
Washington, D.C. for a week of intensive governmental
study, Fakkema said.
Due to September 11 and anthrax scares, the school
board decided it would be best if we didnt go, with
what was going on, but now were building funds for
next year, Fakkema said.
Tickets for the Close-Up show will be on sale at the performing
arts center the night of the show. To volunteer to perform,
