Blaine
shines at regional
history day
Blaine
middle school students took top honors in the junior division
at the regional History Day competition at Skagit Valley
Community College March 16. History Day is a national
contest, where students compete giving presentations as
exhibits, performances, documentaries or papers, said
teacher Jack Nighbert. The purpose is to use primarily
original resources and carry through with a museum-like
presentation.
Blaine took three individual and one group prize. The theme
of the individual competition, with 29 entries, was Revolution,
Reaction and Reform. With their third place finish out of
26 entries in the group category, Stephanie Schmidt and
Laurie Hyman will go to the state finals in Ellensberg,
May 4..
