Border Patrol makes record coke seizure
On
January 23 Blaine border patrol agents found 76 pounds of
cocaine lying in a ditch separating the U.S. from Canada.
The cocaine, found shortly after midnight, was packed into
31 laundry soap boxes all stuffed in a large black backpack.
When they found the boxes agents brought in a detector dog
who tipped them off that the boxes held more than soap and
a lab test proved the dog right. Drug enforcement administration
officers speculated the seizure, the largest in the history
of the Blaine border patrol station, would be worth $800,000
and was probably bound for Canadian streets.
