Closing in on Close-up show
By Soren Velice
If you feel its time for your star to be born, shine up those tap shoes and warm up those pipes; its Close-up talent show time again!
The May 5 event already has a solid list of performers lined up, from Celtic tunes to rock and roll.
Weve confirmed ten performers so far, mostly adults, but well probably pick up a few more after the elementary school talent show next week, said Close-up advisor David Fakkema, adding they are still on the lookout for would-be performers.
Anyone interested in participating should contact Fakkema at 332-6045 or 332-2071.
The show helps pay for 20 juniors participation in the annual Close-Up trip to Washington, D.C. The week-long trip at the end of March has left participants with a better understanding of how the nations business is conducted, a sense of history, some fine photos and big bills. Ticket sales for the talent show will help pay those bills. If we can raise $2,000 well be very happy, Fakkema said.
The talent show starts at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center and tickets are available at the door..
