News
from the ladies...
The Editor:
The Ladies Auxiliary of Custer Post 9474 of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars, which encompasses the Blaine, Custer, and
Ferndale areas, would like to thank the community for its
past support of our community service projects and youth
programs.
We
are starting the year with a couple of new community service
projects and could use your assistance. First, we will be
collecting greeting card fronts to send to the St. Judes
Ranch for Children in Boulder, Nevada. The children at the
ranch recycle used cards into new cards, which they then
sell to earn extra spending money. All sizes of unused envelopes
are also appreciated. Look for the drop off box at the Blaine
Library. For more information, please contact Stephanie
at 318-8352.
We
will also be collecting items for the Seattle Veterans Association
Hospital. Items that are needed include afghans, microwave
popcorn, socks, and miscellaneous comfort items. For a complete
needs list, please see the box at the Blaine Library. Phone
cards are especially needed. For more information or to
donate large quantities, please contact our Auxiliary President
Tami at 384-5406.
Our
post would like to extend a thank you to all those who have
served or are presently serving our country in the military.
We appreciate the freedom that their sacrifices have provided
Americans.

The Editor:
Hats off to Al Dahl for the beautiful remodel of his building
at 3rd and H streets, complete with clock. What a wonderful
improvement for downtown Blaine. Every time we pass by your
lovely building our spirits will be lifted.
Blaine
owes a big thank you to Al and another to Pierre Constantin
down the block for transforming ugly buildings into very
attractive ones, and demonstrating by their substantial
investments, their faith in the future of Blaine. Their
contributions will benefit our town for years to come.

Whatcom Physical Therapy and Fitness would like to thank
all our clients who contributed to our fourth annual food
drive for the Blaine Food Bank.
The
drive ran from November through January. Our clients have
contributed over 500 pounds of food to the local food bank
this year.
The
staff of Whatcom Physical Therapy and Fitness are proud
to work in a community that gives back as much as Blaine
does to its own. Thanks again.
