The local Mt. Baker Group of the Sierra Club is sponsoring a hands-on workshop on news literacy: how to recognize fake news and stop it in its tracks. What are clues that news could be “fake,” and how do you really know if it is legitimate? Research Librarian and fake-news sleuth Susan Witter shares tips on how to research the accuracy of any type of news. Focus is on group work to develop skills to spot fake news and strategies to stop it, with an emphasis on local environmental news. Bring a laptop if you like (but absolutely not required) and Bellingham Public Library Card (to access Wi-Fi) to the workshop! Free and open to the public.
