The Jansen Art Center invites you to a reception of Elizabeth Wonnacott’s exhibit, Rodeo Dreams, at the Inn at Lynden. The reception will be held on the evening of August 16th and will be a great opportunity to go and interact with the artist herself! The paintings within her collection were inspired by scenes that were photographed before or after competitions at multiple rodeos and ranches. “These scenes are universal,” Wonnacott states, “so I have deliberately abstracted backgrounds to make the time and place vague and open to the viewers interpretation. By pairing the highly representational figurative with abstracted and simplified settings and backgrounds, the paintings have a slightly disconnected aspect, something you might see in a dream.” The exhibit is currently open at the Inn until September 30th, but take this upcoming opportunity to see Wonnacott’s work and ask her about her processes and techniques and any other questions you might have about her art. The reception is free to attend, so we hope to see you there.
