Fire crews responded to a fire that had heavily damaged an RV and nearby manufactured home in Birch Bay late last week.

At its 7 p.m. meeting tonight (August 9), The Whatcom County Council will vote on a change to a request from the Birch Bay Watershed and Aquatic Resources Management District (BBWARM) for $420,000 for stormwater handling improvements in the Charel Terrace area of Birch Bay, near Birch Point. According to county public works, the final construction bid came in much lower than expected, so BBWARM is decreasing its request to $336,237.
