County appoints five to BBWARM
Whatcom County Council appointed five people to the new Birch Bay Watershed and Aquatic Resources Management (BBWARM) advisory committee Tuesday night, completing a year-long implementation of a storm water management plan that was approved by the council last year.

Birch Bay couple charged in dead bird case
The former owners of a Birch Bay property where county officials found more than 80 dead domestic fowl last winter have been charged with animal cruelty.

Older boat radios should be replaced by 2009
What if you call 911 and no one ever answers?
Starting February 1, 2009 that is exactly what will happen for boaters who have the older model EPIRBs (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons) that transmit a distress alert on 121.5 MHz or 243 MHz.
