All aboard! City officials give a representative of the USDA’s rural economic development program a complimentary ride on Blaine’s Plover ferry after the agency awarded more than $8 million toward the city’s planned Lighthouse Point water reclamation facility slated for Marine Drive. Pictured from left are: Blaine mayor Bonnie Onyon, Blaine city manager Gary Tomsic, USDA Washington State economic development director John DeVaney, Blaine public works director Steve Banham, Blaine city clerk Sheri Sanchez, community development specialist Debbie Harger and Plover captain Richard Sturgill. At approximately $30 million, the project is the largest in the history of Blaine.
