| Antique
show raises funds for library

The
Whatcom County Library Foundation is sponsoring an Antiques
Road Show-style fundraiser on Saturday, June 16, from
noon to 4 p.m. at the Lynden Community Center at 401
Grover Street.
“It
benefits the whole library system, which is county-wide,” said
foundation board member Georgia Donovan of Blaine. This
includes the Blaine library, one of nine branches in
the county.
Donovan
said that experts in fine and costume jewelry, U.S. and
foreign coins, fine art and collectibles will be present
to offer their knowledge and analysis of items for a
$5 charge per item. Local historians will also be present
to help in the process.
There
is a suggested limit of three items per person, and with
large items such as furniture people are asked to bring
clear, detailed photos of the item rather than the item
itself.
Proceeds
will go to the Whatcom County Library Foundation to fund
special programs and building projects.
“Excitement
is building for what is our first official fundraiser
and we are pleased to see growing community support
for the work of the foundation,” said Randy
Erickson, foundation board chairman, “so
if you want to put that interest into supporting
library services in Whatcom County, then I hope
to see you at this event!”
