| Aviation
buffs invited to join new EAA group
By
Tiana Sanders
Local
aviation enthusiasts are invited to join others who share
their interest on March 24 to explore forming a local chapter
of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), the leader
in recreational aviation. The EAA provides invaluable aviation
opportunities for adults, as well as kids, both locally
and nationally.
The
organizational meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday,
March 24 at the Blaine municipal airport main hangar, behind
Yorky’s on Boblett Street.
Pilots and non-pilots with an interest in aviation are
invited to attend.
The
EAA has more than 1,000 chapters around the world, which
provide activities for aviation enthusiasts. Chapter activities
range from monthly meetings, to fly-ins and pancake breakfasts
that share aviation with the community and build a stronger
bond between local aviation and the general public. Other
EAA chapter efforts include Young Eagle rallies, which
give free flights to kids to share the world of flight
with a new generation; aircraft building projects; and
work parties that help maintain local flight facilities.
Most EAA chapter members are pilots, but non-flying aviation
enthusiasts are always more than welcome.
EAA
chapters are the backbone of the international EAA organization,
which has more than 170,000 members worldwide. The local
organizations include EAA chapters as well as specialized
chapters for vintage aircraft, warbird, ultralight and
aerobatic flight enthusiasts.
