| Japanese
high school bands
to visit and perform in Blaine
By Leslee Smith
In February
2003 the Blaine High School Wind Ensemble toured in Japan
and by invitation, performed at the Funabashi Music Festival.
As a result of this tour a wonderful relationship has developed
with high school music groups from Japan.
These
groups are outstanding performers (they sing, dance and
play with precision) and are not to be missed. Please help
us welcome them and make their journey to our country and
cities worthwhile by attending their concert. Takanawadai
High School Band performed in Blaine in 2003. We are honored
to have them visit and perform here again.
We welcome
their 108 members who will spend the morning performing,
visiting classrooms and teaching origami and games to the
students at Blaine elementary school. This group of gifted
performers will put on an evening concert at Ferndale high
school on Tuesday, March 22 at the Ferndale high school
performance theater at 7 p.m.
Asahikawa High School Band will be performing for the
first time in Blaine. Although they have visited and
performed in the Vancouver area before, they have not
been to the United States to perform. This talented 86-member
group of students will perform on Thursday, March 31
in the Ken Waters gym at 7 p.m.
Both
concerts are free. For more information you can contact
Leslee Smith at 332-4859. We would like as many to attend
the concerts as possible. We extend an invitation to you
and ask you to invite family, friends and co-workers! |
