REPORTS
March 29:
A woman found a three-year-old boy out exploring
in the 300 block of E Street. The youngster was unable
to tell the woman where he lived. Seeing no parent around,
she took him to the nearest open business. An employee
of the business called the police, and an officer responded
and took custody of the tyke. He was taken to the police
station to curtail his exploring, while the officer went
in search of his parents. A few minutes later his mother
was located as she was out looking for him. The family
was from out of state and were visiting relatives in Blaine.
Mom, dad and son were soon reunited.
March
29:
An officer saw an outside light flashing on and off
near the kitchen/restroom area at Peace Arch State Park.
The kitchen was found to be secure. It appeared the light
bulb was about to expire.

28:
A
person reported hearing gun shots in the woods near her
home in the 8900 block of Semiahmoo Parkway. They said
it sounded like someone was target practicing. Officers
checked the area and also heard the shots. The area the
shots were coming from was outside of the city limits.
Officers notified the WCSO.

28:
Officers
investigated a burglary in the 400 block of Cherry Street.
It appears the suspect, a 17-year-old former house guest,
broke into the house and stayed there while the residents
were out of town. When the residents returned home, the
suspect was gone and so was their pick-up truck. The
stolen truck has been recovered, but officers are still
searching for the suspect.

28:
A
person reported a juvenile riding his off road motorcycle
on a city street. The juvenile has been warned in the
past. Officers went and spoke to the parent and advised
if it happened again enforcement of the laws would occur.

27:
Officers were dispatched to a report of an intoxicated
male giving customers a bad time at a gas station in
the 300 block of Third Street. Officers contacted the
intoxicated man who said he had been denied entry into
Canada. He agreed to leave the gas station and said
he was going to leave town and go to Seattle.

A
driver reported he was involved in a non-injury traffic
accident, and his vehicle had a dent on the rear bumper.
The other vehicle had no damage. An officer interviewed
both drivers and a passenger of one of the vehicles.
It appears the minor accident may have been the result
of road rage. The report and citations will be submitted
to the city attorney for review.

27:
US Customs reported two males hiding in the bushes
near the entrance to the Peace Arch Port of entry. Officers
contacted the pair, who explained they were homeless.
One of the men returned to Canada and the other went
into Blaine to find a hotel room.

26:
A resident reported someone splattered an egg on
his front window. This is the third time similar circumstances
have been discovered. The window was not damaged, but
the egg made a big mess. Officers provided extra patrol
for the area.
March
25:
A British Columbia resident called the police department
to inquire as to the whereabouts of her daughter, who
had been transported to a shelter by a Blaine officer
earlier in the day. The mother was concerned because
her daughter was not at the shelter when she went to
pick her up. Information was provided to the mother,
who was waiting for a Bellingham police officer to arrive
at her location to take a missing person report.

25:
Information was received third hand of a red car
vs stop sign accident on Hughes Avenue. Officers arrived
in the area and found two signs knocked over. Red paint
transfer was found on the post. Officers were able to
place the signs upright. The red car was not located.
It is unknown whether the damage was accidental or intentional.
March
25:
Officer responded to the Peace Arch Port of Entry
regarding a man who was possibly DUI and without a valid
driver’s
license. During the course of the investigation it was
found the driver had been drinking the previous night
and still smelled of intoxicants; however, he did not
display any effects of being under the influence. A check
of his driver’s license
showed it was valid. Officer
cleared without no action taken.
March
25:
Officers were dispatched to a fight in progress at
the high school. Officers arrived and found
the suspect, a 16-year-old girl, had
left the area. She was located, arrested
for assault and processed and then
released to her parents.

24:
An officer was asked to respond to the Peace Arch
Port of Entry after a set of brass knuckles were discovered
in a vehicle that was being inspected. The driver admitted
to owning the knuckles and to having put them into the
rental vehicle. The driver was issued a citation for
being in possession of a dangerous weapon and was released
with a court date.

23:
Officers responded to a report of a man assaulting
a child outside a store in the 1700 block of H Street.
The suspect vehicle was located and the people inside
were contacted. A man, woman, and a six-year-old child
were in the vehicle, and all were interviewed separately.
Officers determined the dad had spanked the child for
acting up, and a crime had not occurred.
March
23:
Officers were dispatched to a loud argument in progress
at a home in the 600 block of Adelia Street. They found
that a dispute between two adult men had escalated beyond
arguing. At one point during the confrontation a juvenile
was struck in the head by a large stick wielded by one
of the men and a shotgun was brandished. The youth was
not seriously injured. Officers received conflicting
stories as to what transpired. Officers impounded the
bamboo weapon and the shotgun that had been brandished
during the incident. Investigation as to charges continues.
