Ridnour
to enter NBA draft
Blaine
native Luke Ridnour, currently attending college at Oregon,
has decided to skip his senior season and enter the NBA
draft. The announcement was made Tuesday evening.
Ridnour,
who stands at 6-foot-2, recently faxed his intent to enter
the June 26 draft to the league office, located in New York.
Currently, Ridnour does not have an agent, which leaves
him with the option of withdrawing before the June 19 deadline.
Ridnour,
a guard, was the pacific-10 conference player of the year
and was selected as MVP of the pacific-10 conference tournament.
He averaged 20 points and seven assists per game and shot
38 percent from 3-point range.
In
the 2002 NCAA tournament, he helped lead the Ducks to the
regional final before losing to Kansas.In
2003, Ridnour missed eight of his first nine shots and finished
just 3-of-13 as Oregon lost in the first round to Utah.
Ridnour
has had the attention of the basketball world since he was
in high school, where he was coached by his father, Rob.
Blaine won consecutive class 2A state titles in 1998-99
and 1999-2000. Ridnour then became the Pac-10 conference
freshman of the year.
A press
conference has been scheduled for Thursday in Eugene.
