REPORTS
April 15:
A person called to report a man lying on the sidewalk near
a pick-up truck. Officers found the man passed out on the
sidewalk. He had fallen out of the passenger side of the
truck while it was parked and was too intoxicated to get
up. He was identified and his daughter was contacted. She
agreed to take care of him. Officers cleared without incident.
April
14:
Office received a CPS referral regarding a six-year-old
girl who had reportedly been abused by her father. An officer
interviewed the child regarding her injuries and determined
probable cause existed for the father’s arrest. The father
was located and arrested for assault of a child in the third
degree. He was booked into Whatcom County jail.

14:
Officers served a felony warrant out of Superior Court for
assault of a child into the third degree. An adult female
was taken into custody without incident. One child was taken
into protective custody and turned out to CPS.

14:
A local business reported an employee being grabbed by a
customer while delivering a pizza in the 9500 block of Semiahmoo
Parkway. The employee was not injured and said she did not
wish to pursue the matter with police. No further action
was required.

14:
A citizen in the 9500 block of Semiahmoo Parkway reported
someone had broken the door on his boat and had entered
it without permission. Nothing was taken and damages were
estimated at $50. No prints were available at the scene
and there are no suspects.
April
13:
Officer was dispatched to a report of someone yelling for
help on the roof of the school. Officers arrived and checked
the area and found no one around. The reporting person was
contacted and said it might have been kids playing in or
around the area.

12:
Officers assisted U.S. Customs at the Peace Arch POE with
a subject who was in possession of ecstasy tablets and a
large amount of cash. Subject was arrested and transported
to the Whatcom County jail. Contraband was seized and booked
into evidence.

12:
An officer observed a male in the 800 block of Harrison
Avenue who appeared to be attempting to open the door on
a vehicle that was parked in a lot of a government facility.
When the male saw the officer, he ran on foot. The subject
was contacted, determined to be MIP and arrested. While
the subject was being transported to the hospital for an
evaluation, he became increasingly aggressive and began
kicking a window in the patrol car. The subject was booked
into Whatcom County jail.

4:
A citizen in the 200 block of Cherry Street reported three
unknown juveniles throwing eggs at a tent in her backyard.
The males fled the area. Officers contacted the males and
learned they were playing a prank on one of their friends
who was sleeping in the tent. The juveniles returned to
the complainant’s home and apologized. The boys assisted
in the clean-up and no criminal charges were filed.

10:
A USBP agent responded to information about possible smuggling
activity at the border and saw a vehicle leave the area
at a high rate of speed. A Blaine officer nearby observed
the vehicle driving recklessly. It ran a stop sign on 8th
Street at D Street in a residential area. Before officers
could catch up to the car, it ran another stop sign on 8th
and H streets and collided with a private vehicle. The car’s
driver and passenger were attempting to leave the scene
when officers arrived. Officers arrested the driver for
reckless driving and observed 19 pounds of marijuana on
the front seat with the driver and passenger. Traffic was
diverted around the accident scene for about an hour while
officers investigated the crash. Driver and passenger were
arrested for felony possession of marijuana with the intent
to deliver and were booked into jail. Occupants of both
vehicles received minor injuries and were evaluated on scene
by medical personnel from North Whatcom Fire Rescue Services.

10:
A police officer observed a red Geo Storm being recklessly
driven southbound on 8th Street. The driver failed to stop
for the stop sign at the intersection on H Street and collided
with a pick-up truck which was westbound on H Street. The
two occupants of the Geo and one occupant of the pick-up
received minor injuries and were all evaluated at the scene
by aid personnel. Both vehicles sustained major damage and
the roadway was blocked for about an hour while officers
investigated.

10:
The Blaine high school reported two windows were broken
out. Video tapes are being reviewed on the newly installed
surveillance equipment in an attempt to identify the suspect(s).
Case under investigation.

10:
Officers were asked to check on a possible stolen vehicle
at the Peace Arch POE. The vehicle had been stolen in West
Virginia and recovered in Alberta, but the vehicle had not
been removed from the system as stolen. It was determined
that employees of the insurance company were transporting
the vehicle back to the U.S.

9:
A person had about $275 worth of crab stolen off his boat.
The crabs were found on a neighboring boat. While an officer
was talking to one of the suspects, it was learned he had
outstanding arrest warrants. The man was arrested and brought
before the Blaine municipal court judge. The judge ordered
him to jail. Officers are still investigating the theft.
April
9:
An anonymous citizen called in the early morning hours to
report seeing two juvenile males in the 1500 block of H
Street who were acting suspiciously. Officers contacted
the males and learned they were walking to a convenience
store on their way home from a friend’s house. No crime
occurred.
