Josh Jones earns fourth medal

Josh Jones of the Blaine Barracudas earned his 4th freestyle wrestling gold medal of the season Saturday after winning the championship of the Sedro-Woolley “Steelclaw Classic.”

In five tournaments this season, Jones, who competes in the novice 85-pound class, has four firsts, one third, and has a record of 17 - 2.

Three other Barracudas joined Jones as champions, including Caleb Johnson (winning his third title in the Midget 103 lb class), Jeremy Holdaas (3rd title, Novice 100 lbs), and Niko Rehon (Schoolboy 120 lbs).

Barracuda silver medalists included Jacob Humphrey (N-75), Derik Stremler (SB-130) and Nick Jordan (Cadet 125 lbs).

Humphrey and Jordan each won five matches Saturday. Jordan’s day included wins over former freestyle veteran Victor Harkness of Mount Baker.

Run to the Border scheduled for April 26
The second annual Run to the Border is scheduled for April 26, and will include a 1.5-mile Kids Fun Run and Walk at 10:30 a.m. and a 5K Fun Run at 11 a.m.

Proceeds from the run will benefit the Girls on the Run of Northwest Washington, a fitness and activity program that helps to build self-esteem in girls ages eight through 14.
