May
28: Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction at
Bell Road at Peace Portal. The occupants fled on foot. Officers
located the occupants and discovered the driver to be DUI.
The driver was arrested, processed and released.
May 27: Officers were dispatched to a fight in progress
in the 700 block of Cedar Street. The involved neighbors
and witnesses related it was a verbal dispute only. The
parties had settled their differences upon officers
arrival.
May 27: A resident in the 300 block of Marine Drive reported
he was pushed and scratched by a young man who dislikes
him. He requested that the police contact the suspect and
advise him of the complaint. No further action was requested.
May 26: A citizen in the 1100 block of Mitchell Avenue reported
her car had been hit by eggs sometime during the night.
There was minimal damage to the vehicles paint. Extra
patrol was requested.
May 26: An officer stopped a motorist in the 700 block of
G Street for an equipment violation and discovered the driver
was intoxicated, in possession of paraphernalia and had
a suspended drivers license and no insurance. The
driver was arrested and released.
May 26: Officers received a complaint of a transient sleeping
behind a garage in the 900 block of Peace Portal. Officers
woke the man and asked him to move along. The man left the
area.
May 25: A person unbolted a bench and removed it from Peace
Arch Park. Evidence indicated the thief/thieves had walked
across the border. RCMP were notified.
May 25: Blaine officers assisted the US Border Patrol by
contacting two men who ran across the border. One of the
men had a felony warrant for burglary. He was booked into
Whatcom County jail. The other man was not denied entry.
May 24: Officers received a report of a possible bear sighting
in the 2200 block of H Street. Officers searched the area
and found no signs of a bear. Officers notified Washington
State Fish and Game who will also check the area.
May 24: Officers responded to a verbal domestic in the 700
block of F Street where the male party was refusing to leave.
After a lengthy discussion, the male left. No further assistance
was needed.
May 24: A parent in the 700 block of A Street reported her
child as a runaway. The child returned home while officers
were investigating. The child was warned not the leave the
house without his parents permission.
May 23: Officer assisted US Customs with a vehicle that
had switched plates. The driver was issued an infraction
and the plates were confiscated. It was later determined
DMV had made an error. Infraction voided and the plates
were returned.
May 23: Officers from WSP, WCSO, Blaine PE and the US Border
Patrol assisted Washington State Parks and Federal Protective
Services and crowd and traffic control during a concert
in Peace Arch Park. A good time was had by the 2,500 participants.
May 23: There was a report of a car fire in the 1700 block
of H Street. When officers arrived a citizen was putting
out the engine compartment fire. Officers cleared when the
fire department arrived.
May 22: A tractor-trailer was stopped for a traffic infraction.
The driver was found to be DWLS. He was arrested and issued
a criminal citation. The company was contacted and another
driver was sent for the truck.
May 22: US customs reported a possible DUI driver. A Blaine
officer investigated and determined the driver to be DUI
and in possession of a stolen vehicle. The driver was arrested
and booked into jail.
May 22: US Customs reported an adult male in possession
of a firearm. The man had a felony arrest 35 years ago.
The male was not ineligible to poses the firearm.
May 22: An individual in the 1600 block of Peace Portal
reported his vehicle stolen sometime in the last three weeks.
Vehicle was left parked at a residence in Blaine during
this time. The vehicle was found. It was determined that
the vehicle was the center of a civil issue.
May 22: Officer was advised of a possible rape of a child.
Case under investigation.
May 21: A person out of state contacted police to report
a possible theft involving an internet auction. He had paid
by check for items on Ebay. The $500 + check had been cashed
but no product was delivered by the seller. Under investigation.
May 21: A landlord in the 300 block of D Street who was
attempting to evict a tenant contacted police because the
tenant turned off the water. The incident was civil and
the landlord was referred to the Whatcom County Civil Deputy.
May 21: Two people en route to Canada hid two guns in a
field because they could not take them across the border.
They were denied entry into Canada and returned to US Customs.
The guns were located by officers and impounded. Charges
pending.
May 21: Officers responded to a residence in the 4200 block
of H Street where a teenager was having a reaction to the
drug Ecstasy. The teen was transported to the hospital for
treatment. Under investigation.
May 20: Officers stood by while the FBI took a person into
custody on federal charges in the 8700 block of Semiahmoo
Parkway. Officers cleared without incident.
May 20: Officers investigated a vehicle prowl in the 1900
block of H Street. The victim believes a family member attempted
to steal her stereo. Officers are attempting to contact
the suspect.
May 20: Officers investigated a burglary in the 800 block
of Boblett Street. Officers are processing evidence left
at the scene. Case is under investigation.
May 20: A juvenile made a generally threatening statement
to a business employee in the 600 block of 8th Street. An
officer investigated and spoke to the childs parent
about the matter. The statement was determined to not be
a valid threat. No crime.
May 20: A person called to request a welfare check on two
children in the 700 block of F Street. Officers responded
and found the children appeared to be in good health and
were living under adequate conditions.
May 20: A business in the 800 block of H Street reported
that receipt books and deposit bags were removed from the
business. The items were returned and possible suspect information
was located. Case under investigation.
May 20: A hotel guest in the 9500 block of Semiahmoo Parkway
reported that someone had taken a kodak digital camera from
a training room. The camera is valued at $500. A thorough
investigation was completed, but no suspects were located.
