REPORTS
March
18: An individual reported a female was assaultive,
verbally abusive, extremely loud and disruptive to city
hall employees. She will be summoned into the Blaine Municipal
Court for the offenses.
March 18: A person reported having lent some CDs
to a friend who in turn pawned them. The victim recovered
some of his CDs because they were marked with owner numbers.
The suspect moved to California. The case is under investigation.
March 18: An officer was advised of numerous suspicious
subjects walking in the middle of the roadway in the 300
block of B Street. Subjects found to be employees of a local
business.
March 18: Blaine police provided assistance
with six people fighting at Yorkys on Blaine Road.
Upon arrival, officers found the fight over and maintained
the peace until WCSO deputies arrived.
March 18: An officer stopped a vehicle for driving
without headlights in the early morning hours and found
the driver to be suspended. The driver was issued a citation
for no proof of insurance and DWLS/3rd. The vehicle was
impounded.
March 17: U.S. Customs reported an adult male who
appeared to be DUI at the Peace Arch POE. An officer checked
the driver and found him to be DUI. The driver was arrested,
processed, and released with a court date. The vehicle was
impounded.
March 17: An officer contacted a transient in the
200 block of D Street who was on his way to Alaska and was
denied entry into Canada. The transient had no money. He
was given a free WTA bus pass and directions to the Lighthouse
Mission in Bellingham.
March 17: An officer was dispatched to a 911 hang
up call in the 1100 block of E Street. On arrival, an officer
contacted a father who said his kids called 911 to see if
police would really respond. The kids were talked to about
false reporting.
March 17: An officer stopped a vehicle for speeding
and discovered the driver had been drinking alcohol beverages.
The driver was over a safe limit to drive and decided to
call someone who had not been drinking to drive home.
March 17: A citizen informed police of a hitchhiker
trying to stop traffic on I-5 outside the city limits. Officers
later contacted the individual in the city limits. The individual
decided to return to his brothers house.
March 16: Officers arrested a juvenile on warrants.
A search of his person was done and he had prescription
drugs on his person. The juvenile admitted to stealing them
from a friend. The case will be forwarded to the prosecutor.
March 16: An officer observed a vehicle passing in
a no passing zone in the 1200 block of D Street and almost
causing an accident. The officer stopped the vehicle and
issued the driver a traffic infraction.
March 15: A resident in the 300 block of Alder Street
reported a physical domestic dispute incident a day after
the event. An officer conducted an investigation and submitted
his findings to the city attorney for review.
March 15: An anonymous citizen reported a man standing
in the roadway in the 200 block of C Street acting suspiciously
by trying to stay out of sight of passing motorists and
watching the border. Officers and Border Patrol searched
the area unsuccessfully.
March 15: Officers stopped a vehicle in the 1800
block of Hughes Avenue for a traffic violation. Computer
checks showed the passenger had multiple warrants and was
listed as a runaway. The juvenile was taken into custody
and transported to a detention facility.
March 15: A person returned to her car after shopping
and found the passenger door had been hit by something and
would not open. There are no suspects at this time. The
person will contact her insurance company.
March 15: Blaine officers responded to a WCSO mutual
aid request for a burglary in progress in the 3000 block
of Creasey Road. Officers searched a residence in the county
with the owners permission. The suspect was not located.
WCSO handled the investigation and crime report.
March 15: An officer assisted U.S. Border Patrol
agents with the apprehension of two people who had entered
the country illegally.
March 15: A large deer was struck by a vehicle and
seriously injured in the 3700 block of H Street. The deer
was dispatched by an officer. The animal was picked up by
the Lighthouse Mission.
March 14: A purse was reported stolen in the 900
block of H Street. The case is under investigation.
March 14: An officer observed two juveniles on foot
in the 800 block of Adelia Street during school hours. An
investigation revealed the boys were truant from the Timber
Ridge school. The juveniles were released to parents. Charges
are pending.
March 14: An individual was observed drinking a bottle
of Corona Beer while sitting on the sidewalk in front of
the Texaco Star Mart on H Street. The individual was issued
a citation for the violation of law and the liquor was confiscated.
March 14: An officer was contacted by an individual
who had located marijuana in his sons vehicle. His
son stated the marijuana belonged to a friend of his. The
case was referred to the Whatcom County sheriffs department.
March 13: An officer received a report of a small
car gas and dash at the Texaco Star Mart on H Street. The
officer was unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle.
March 13: Officers responded to an aid call where
a lady had fallen and injured herself in the 1400 block
of Garfield Street. Officers stood by until medics arrived.
March 13: An officer was advised of a theft of a
washer and dryer from a business in the 2000 block of Peace
Portal Drive. The case is under investigation.
March 13: An officer responded to the Peace Arch
POE to assist U.S. Customs agents with a subject who presented
false identification. An officer determined the Oregon ID
was false and issued the subject a criminal citation.
March 13: A citizen reported being concerned about
locating a friend who was last seen in the Blaine area.
The officer learned his friend was last seen running north
into Canada. The officer notified the citizen and RCMP.
March 12: An individual in the 600 block of 8th Street
reported her $36 Girl Scout cookie money was stolen out
of her backpack which was being stored at the Boys and Girls
Club. The case is under investigation.
March 12: An officer received a phone call about
a burglary in Bellingham. Information on the suspect and
the location of stolen property was passed on to a Bellingham
police detective.
March 12: A citizen brought in a black leather change
purse that she found on the ground at 3rd and Martin streets.
The purse was impounded for safekeeping until the owner
is found.
March 12: A northbound vehicle on state route 543
struck a vehicle heading south that was turning east onto
H Street. The vehicles were towed and a state accident form
was completed. No one was injured in the accident.
March 12: A customer reported the front door of a
bank in the 200 block of H Street was bolted in the afternoon
and no employees could be seen. An officer discovered the
door was bolted by mistake and there was no crime. The front
door was unlocked.
March 12: Officers responded to an aid call in the
600 block of 10th Street. An adult female was complaining
of chest pains. Officers stood by until medics arrived.
March 12: Officers checked on a juvenile female in
the 4200 block of West 99th Street who had locked herself
into her bedroom. The female was OK and did not want to
talk to her mothers roommate. No crime occurred.
