March
10: Blaine Harbor security reported a suspicious male loitering
on the grounds of closed businesses in the 200 block of
Marine Drive. An officer contacted the transient male and
determined he was not involved in criminal activity.
March 10: U.S. Customs reported an adult male driving while
his drivers status is suspended in Washington. An
officer arrested the male for DWLS/R 3rd, cited and released
him. The drivers vehicle was impounded.
March 10: An officer assisted a concerned parent from California
with his stranded daughter. She was transported to a motel.
March 9: Officers observed a business in the 700 block of
Peace Portal Drive was opened without a business license.
An individual was contacted behind the counter. The business
owner and clerk will be summoned into court for the violation.
March 9: An officer responded to the Peace Arch POE for
a possible suspended driver. A follow up will be conducted
to determine if the subject was suspended.
March 9: Officers responded to a fire alarm in the 800 block
of Boblett Street. Officers determined there was no fire.
However, a water line had broken causing the alarm.
March 9: An individual in the 1300 block of Mitchell Street
reported an unknown subject(s) were knocking on a door that
was not used. The subjects were gone when the door was answered.
An officer was unable to locate the subjects.
March 9: While on patrol, officers noticed a vehicle partially
off the roadway on a freeway off ramp. A WSP trooper was
in the area and arrived to handle the incident.
March 9: Officers responded to an alarm call on 14th Street.
Officers determined the building was secure and notified
the call out. Officers cleared without incident.
March 9: An officer assisted a WSP trooper with a minor
injury accident on I-5 near mile post 274.
March 9: Officers observed a local business in the 700 block
of Peace Portal Drive open without a business license. An
individual was contacted behind the counter. The business
owner and clerk will be summoned into court for the violation.
March 9: Officers responded to a 911 hang up call in the
600 block of D Street and determined a domestic dispute
had occurred. Officers arrested a subject for DV assault
4th degree and booked him into Whatcom County jail.
March 9: An officer located two male subjects crabbing illegally
in the 200 block of Milhollin Drive. Both subjects were
cited for possession of crabs without back shells and possession
of dungeness crab over the limit.
March 9: Officers assisted a U.S. Border patrol agent in
the 200 block of Marine Drive with an individual who had
entered the country illegally. The person was found to be
a U.S. citizen.
March 8: An officer received a report of a stern drive unit
valued at $5,500 stolen from a boat which was in dry dock
in the 9500 block of Semiahmoo Parkway. The case is under
investigation.
March 8: Officers were dispatched to a physical domestic
dispute in the 1300 block of 4th Street. Officers arrested
a male subject for physically assaulting an individual.
March 8: A citizen in the 700 block of F Street reported
that person(s) unknown had spray painted graffiti on the
wooden fence of a private residence. The victim has been
advised of the crime by police. No suspects/witnesses. The
case is closed pending further information.
March 8: A Blaine resident reported being threatened by
an individual who lived outside the city limits via telephone.
An officer determined the suspect may have been violating
an order and referred the matter to the WCSO.
March 8: A Blaine resident reported a missing black leather
wallet containing ID, a credit card, and cash.
March 8: A citizen in the 700 block of G Street reported
that his portable CD player had been stolen from his unlocked
car. The case is under investigation.
March 8: Officers responded to a non-reportable accident
that had occurred on private property in the 1300 block
of Boblett Street. The parties involved exchanged necessary
information for insurance purposes.
March 8: While responding to check on the report of a roll-over
accident on I-5 north of Loomis Trail, an officer came upon
a jeep that slid off the roadway. The officer determined
there were no injuries and only minor damage. A two truck
was called.
March 8: A Texaco employee reported the possibility of a
person being locked inside the womans restroom. The
door was opened and the room was found empty.
March 8: An officer stopped a vehicle in I-5, mile post
274 for a traffic violation and discovered the driver had
a suspended license and was in possession of marijuana and
drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and the vehicle
was impounded.
March 7: A person called to request a welfare check on a
child home alone in the 500 block of F Street. Officers
found that the child was safe and competent to be alone.
The officer notified the reporting party.
March 7: Officers responded to assist a Blaine resident
in the 400 block of D Street with a family member. The officer
determined the male was not a danger to himself or others
and agreed to go to a voluntary mental health evaluation.
He was transported by his mother.
March 7: A subject in the 1300 block of 4th Street reported
that his home was burglarized and his friends car
was prowled while at the residence. Items stolen were Playboy
magazines, Sony Playstation games, various CDs, VHS movies
and a Sony player. Subjects were unsure of the exact date
of the occurrence. The investigation is continuing.
March 7: An officer responded to an intrusion alarm at a
business in the 100 block of 14th Street. U.S. Border patrol
agents assisted the officer in searching the building. The
building was found to be secure. A false alarm notification
was completed.
March 7: WCSO requested assistance in serving a protection
order on a citizen who is temporarily staying in Blaine.
The order was passed on to patrol for service.
March 7: Officers assisted a resident in locating her lost
dog.
March 7: A citizen reported she lost her resident alien
card, drivers license, and birth certificate while
she was in Blaine. A report was taken for informational
purposes.
March 7: Blaine police received a recall of two misdemeanor
warrants from the Blaine Municipal Court. The warrants were
removed from law enforcement databases.
March 7: An officer assisted the county prosecutor and court
by checking the readings on converted odometers which were
the subject of a court case. The information was passed
on to the requesting agency.
March 7: An officer stopped a vehicle for speeding and discovered
the driver had been drinking alcoholic beverages. The driver
was over a safe limit to drive. The driver decided to allow
an individual who had not been drinking to drive.
March 7: An individual in the 1300 block of Peace Portal
Drive reported a violation of a no contact order. Officers
investigated and determined no violation occurred. The case
report will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review.
March 7: Officers received a report of a gas and dash in
the 1500 block of H Street. The reporting party was unable
to obtain a license plate. The officer was unable to locate
the suspect.
March 6: An officer assisted a Blaine resident in recovering
his skateboard in the 1000 block of Mitchell Street.
March 6: Officers responded to a disturbance call in the
1500 block of Odell Road. Officers determined the crime
occurred outside the city limits and referred the matter
to WCSO.
March 6: An officer provided traffic control for an oversized
tractor trailer load at the Pacific Highway POE.
March 6: An officer confirmed a Blaine arrest warrant for
the Snohomish county jail. A copy of the warrant was faxed
to the jail. A locate was sent by Snohomish County and the
warrant was removed from law enforcement databases.
March 6: Officers responded to an intrusion alarm in the
1100 block of Fir Avenue. An employee was contacted and
told officers he had accidentally set off the alarm. Officers
confirmed he was an employee and issued a false alarm notification.
March 6: A citizen reported an injured kitten that had been
hit on the road in the 600 block of 6th Street. The officer
learned the kitten was a stray and contacted a local veterinarian
who agreed to treat the kitten.
March 5: A Blaine resident reported damage done to the landscape
in the Memorial Gardens at the Unitarian Church in the 1200
block of Harrison Avenue. Extra patrol will be provided
to the area.
March 5: An officer received a vehicle prowl report in the
9500 block of Semiahmoo parkway. Several items were taken
out of the vehicle which was parked at the Semiahmoo Marina.
The case is under investigation.
March 5: Blaine police assisted two Blaine residents by
fingerprinting them for employment purposes with the Blaine
school district. Two cards were printed and were mailed
by their office to each resident
March 5: Blaine police were asked to assist the Whatcom
County sheriffs department with the search of a building.
An officer searched the building and determined no problem
existed. The building was secured..
