Lawrence is youth of the year

The Blaine Boys & Girls Club recently selected Alex Lawrence as its 2001 Youth of the Year.

Fourteen-year-old Alex has been a member of the Blaine club for seven years. She is involved with the club’s Torch Club, which plans food and toy drives, car washes, dances and other community service projects. She also assists with snack preparation, answering telephones and helps the younger members with reading and homework.

Alex will take part in the county-wide Youth of the Year competition in mid-February, with that winner going to a state-wide competition in Olympia in April..
