Crab
feed fuels fastpitch team
By
Jack Kintner
The
Blaine Force girls fast-pitch softball program gets
underway this weekend with a benefit crab feed and dance
at the Dakota Creek Roadhouse. For $20 you can have
coleslaw, garlic bread, a soft drink or a beer and all the
crab you can eat, plus the good feeling that comes with
supporting both our teams, said coach Mike Dodd. Doors
open and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.
Both teams? Thats right. This year a junior Force
team for girls from 6th through 8th grade has been added
to the summer program in addition to the high school team
which is entering its eleventh season. Both will play in
the Whatcom County girls summer fast pitch league
and will begin training in June. Rob Adams, Tim Walter and
Mike Galbraith will be coaching this season in addition
to Dodd and his brother Steve.
At 9 p.m. the Rockerfellas will play classic
rock, just good old rock and roll, with none of that
new stuff that rips out your speakers, said Dodd.
The band, formerly known as the DDTs, is comprised of Tim
Walter, Dave Chapman and Dave Swartos. .
