Another PTO year...
The Editor:
For those of you who were so inconvenienced by the trains
at crossings here in Blaine... My sympathies, but I for
one am saddened by the fact the trains no longer stop at
our quaint old west style station. Another charming and
unique part of Blaine is lost.
How
much wiser it would have been to aggressively have tried
to expand the station with Amtrak and Greyhound bus services.
In a Bellingham Heralds recent article eight million
people cross the Blaine border each year. Doesnt it
make sense that some of those people would have used the
train and bus services and explored the town? Now what?
Will the station be used for a more visible Visitors
center?
I
am keeping my fingers crossed it will not be dismantled
or fall victim to vandalism.

To the person or persons who took two newly planted azalea
shrubs from the Hillside Cemetery: How could you stoop so
low as to steal from a cemetery? You must be very proud
of yourself.

You helped the AARP Tax-Aide program grow by nearly ten
percent since last tax year. We greatly appreciate your
help. We now have 357 sites staffed by nearly 1,100 volunteers.
Although the statistics for tax year 2002 are not yet available
we think we will have served nearly 70,000 people compared
to the 66,000 we helped to prepare income tax returns for
in 2001.
Your
publication of our search for volunteers really helped us
grow. The
notice of where and when our free tax services were available
enabled many people to find us with ease.
Many,
many thanks for your help.

donated prizes for this tournament which made it even more
spectacular.
On
behalf of the many teachers and staff members at BMS we
would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the following
businesses: Dakota Creek Golf Course, Paso Del Norte, Whatcom
Physical Therapy, Steamers Espresso, Resort Semiahmoo, Blackberry

Haggen, Barkley Golf Center, Hardware Sales, Proco Inc.,
Salon Eva, and Tonys Coffee.
We
recognize and honor the commitment these Blaine and local
businesses have toward education and teachers!
