State appeals county boat launch decision The state parks department is appealing a county decision to deny non-conforming use status to a boat launch at the south end of Birch Bay State Park, without which the launch will be closed.

New road proposed for Birch Bay The Birch Bay Steering Committee proposed a new connector running west from Blaine Road to public parking lots just east of Birch Bay Drive at its December 19 meeting.
School offering snow programs The Blaine school district ski/snowboard program is looking forward to a great 2002 ski season. The district is excited to offer this program in conjunction with the Mt. Baker ski area.
