OBITUARIES

KOCH, RUTH J, age 64, died February 21, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. She was born May 29, 1937 to Mathew and Euehmia Wollersheim in Sweetgrass, MT. She attended and graduated school in Lethbridge, AB in 1956. Ruth married Leonard Smyth in 1956, moved to White Rock and divorced in 1965. Ruth is predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Koch, and sons Robert D. Koch, Kevin G. Smyth and
brother Robert James Wollersheim.

She is survived by sons Thomas Neil and Charles Smyth and stepsons Bruce and Richard; daughter Karen Koch, all of Whatcom County. Also survived by brothers Pat Wollersheim of MT, Mike Wollersheim of AB, sisters Madeline Bowman of AK, Josephine Hrycak of AB and Elizabeth Wollersheim of WA.

Ruth will be loved and missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion, Post 86 in Blaine. The service will be performed by Emeritus Rev. Don Walter.

WAYLETT, AGNES Feb. 26, 1903 - Feb. 26, 2002. Agnes Waylett, died on Feb. 26, 2002 at the age of 99. She was born in Sartoria, Nebraska to Lewis and Anna Kuehnel. Her mother died when Agnes was one year old. Her family later moved to the Mountain View area near Ferndale. Agnes helped raise her sisters and graduated from Ferndale High School in 1924. She and her husband, Jesse Waylett, farmed the homestead after Lewis Kuehnel died. Their three daughters were raised there. Jesse died in 1951. In 1964, Agnes sold the farm and moved to Blaine, where she lived until 1997, when she moved to Oak
Harbor.

She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Arloine and Dennis Pendleton of Custer, Bernadeen and James Bowers of Oak Harbor and Evilo and Dan Adkinson of Concrete; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; also, four great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Maybelle Flickinger of San Mateo, CA; also, nieces, nephews and longtime friends.
Agnes enjoyed working in her garden, playing pinochle with her daughters and crocheting exquisite pieces for her family and friends. Agnes had strength of character and never complained about the responsibilities she encountered in life. She will be missed.

Services will be held on March 4, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ferndale. Arrangements under direction of Burley
