U.S. Customs Seeking Officers Open House: April 19, noon – 6 p.m., Pacific Highway Border Station, 3rd Floor, Blaine. On May 6, U.S. Customs Service will post a new website vacancy announcement for inspectors. The announcement can be downloaded from the U.S. Customs website at www.customs.gov and will include instructions on how to apply.

Trio Con Brio Performance: April 20, 7:30 – 9 p.m., Resort Semiahmoo. All three members perform in various solo, chamber, jazz, and orchestral settings. Free and open to the public.

Expanding Your Horizons Program: April 20 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.,WWU. AAUW is sponsoring hands-on workshops for middle school girls seeking technical career options. Careers such as engineering, physics, architecture, and computer science will be offered.
Rummage Sale: April 20, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., St. Anne’s Catholic Church, H and 6th streets, Blaine.
Medieval Faire: April 20 & 21, Northwest Washington Fairgrounds, Lynden. Sword fighting, archery, and many other medieval merriments are scheduled. Several classes on medieval history. Semiahmoo Ladies Club Seminar “Ecology and the Reduction of Pollution in the Drayton Harbor Watershed”: April 23, 7 – 9 p.m., Palmer Room, Resort Semiahmoo. Cost: $5 per person. Dessert & coffee served. Geoff Menzies, Drayton Harbor Community Oyster Farm, will be the speaker.
Teaching Kids Safer Internet Surfing Class: April 23, 6 – 8:30 p.m., Blaine elementary school library. Officer Hertz, the lead investigator of sex and other crimes against women and children at the Blaine police department, will teach adults how to protect kids from internet predators. Community Free Golf Day: April 24. Birch Bay Golf Club’s annual community appreciation day offers free golf all day - until tee times are filled. Call 371-7933.

Basement Sale: April 26 & 27, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., United Church of Christ, 4th and Clark streets, Blaine.
A Tribute to John Philip Sousa: April 27, 7:30 p.m., Blaine Performing Arts Center, 975 H St. Adults $10, seniors $8, teens $4, under 13 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Performed by the North Cascades Concert Band.
Public Auction: April 27, 9 a.m., Bellingham Police Department, 505 Grand Ave. Preview begins at 8 a.m. Property such as bikes, tools, stereo equipment and other miscellaneous items will be up for bid.
Rummage Sale/Pancake Breakfast: April 27, American Legion, Blaine Rd. Sale from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., breakfast from 8 – 11 a.m. Donations of clean useable items will be appreciated. All proceeds go to the children and youth. For more info, call 371-7311, M-F, 9:30 – 4:30.
Run To The Border: Deadline entry date is April 27. The run will be held May 4 at the Blaine high school track. Kids fun run starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by the 5K run at 11 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the Blaine Chapter of Girls on the Run.
