PEACE ARCH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!

Blast into the past!

On September 8 the U.S./Canada Peace Anniversary association will take Blaine back with a small scale recreation of the massive arch dedication.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the 1920’s will come alive and Sam Hill will be back in the park to celebrate the arch’s 80th birthday. Everyone is encouraged to attend in period dress and get into the spirit of the moment.

Dressing for the 20s isn’t hard, according to event organizers, and here are some tips.
Women of the 1920s might wear:
• long shirts & long jackets.
• long dresses – waistless, pleated, beaded.
• long necklaces & long earrings.
• medium heel boots style or long pointed toed shoes with straps or buckles.
• small handbag, long gloves.
• Cloche, Fedora or wide brimmed hats decorated with lots of flowers or feathers.
• red lipstick & rouge.
Men of the 1920s might wear:
• 3-piece pinstriped suit with a white shirt and red carnation.
• Double breasted jackets and trousers with cuffs.
• V-necked pull over, knickers and argyle socks.
• silk ties or bow ties.
• straw boater hat, bowler hat, homburg hat, trilbie hat.
• cane.
• plain leather shoes.
Girls of the 1920s might wear:
• waistless or sailor dress.
• dress socks and leather shoes.
• hats with flowers or ribbons in their hair.
Boys of the 1920s might wear:
•knickers (roll up your trousers) and long socks.
• solid color button-up shirt.
• sailor suits.
• leather shoes (no running or sports shoes).
• baseball or school cap with a short bill.
